WindowsRuntimeStreamExtensions.AsStreamForWrite Method (IOutputStream)

Converts an output stream in the Windows Runtime to a managed stream in the .NET for Windows Store apps.

Parameters

windowsRuntimeStream
Type: IOutputStream

The Windows Runtime IOutputStream object to convert.

Return Value

Type: System.IO.Stream
The converted stream.

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type IOutputStream. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter. For more information, see Extension Methods (Visual Basic) or Extension Methods (C# Programming Guide).

ArgumentNullException

windowsRuntimeStream is a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).

A default buffer size of 16,384 bytes is used when converting the stream. To specify a different buffer size, use the AsStreamForWrite(IOutputStream) overload.

The following example shows how to use the AsStreamForWrite and AsStreamForRead methods to convert a managed stream to and from a stream in the Windows Runtime.
