This specification describes the Software Quality Metrics (SQM) Client-to-Service Version 2 Protocol, which is used to send software instrumentation metrics to the SQM service and for the client to download client-specific control data. The protocol extends the concepts of the Software Quality Metrics (SQM) Client-to-Service Protocol, as specified in [MS-SQMCS]. Implementers are recommended to be familiar with the SQM Client-to-Service Protocol and with the message structure used by the protocol as specified in [MS-TPXS].

Sections 1.5, 1.8, 1.9, 2, and 3 of this specification are normative. All other sections and examples in this specification are informative.
