Microsoft.Hpc.Scheduler.AddInFilter.HpcClient Namespace

This namespace contains the interfaces and enumerations for implementing custom job activation and job submission filters that are defined at the job template level (as DLLs). The HPC Job Scheduler Service can run these custom filters to provide additional checks and controls when jobs are submitted to the cluster (submission filters) or when jobs are about to get cluster resources (activation filters).

For more information about custom filters, see Understanding Activation and Submission Filters.

Examples of custom filters are available in the Microsoft HPC Pack 2008 R2 SP2 SDK code samples (in the Scheduler/Filters/DLL folder).

To read about or share best practices, see the TechNet Wiki article Best practices for writing job template level filters for the HPC Job Scheduler Service.

InterfaceDescription
IActivationFilterThis interface defines the methods for implementing a custom job activation filter. The HPC Job Scheduler Service can call activation filters to provide additional checks and controls when a job is about to start or about to grow (get more resources while running). This type of filter is defined as a DLL (its methods are called directly by the HPC Job Scheduler Service), and is configured by the administrator at the job template level.
IFilterLifespanThis interface allows a filter to manage the lifespan of its in-memory state. The methods in this interface allow for explicit creation and clean-up of a threading model and such things as opening files and connections to external services.
ISubmissionFilterThis interface defines the methods for implementing a custom job submission filter. The HPC Job Scheduler Service can call submission filters to provide additional checks and controls when jobs are submitted to the cluster. This type of filter is defined as a DLL (its methods are called directly by the HPC Job Scheduler Service), and is configured by the administrator at the job template level.

EnumerationDescription
ActivationFilterResponseThis enumeration defines the responses that a custom job activation filter can return to the HPC Job Scheduler Service. These responses tell the HPC Job Scheduler Service how to continue processing the job.
SubmissionFilterResponseThis enumeration defines the responses that a custom job submission filter can return to the HPC Job Scheduler Service. These responses tell the HPC Job Scheduler Service how to continue processing the job.
