Reporting and App Highlights

May 24, 2012

1. In the Download Report, what is considered a download?

Downloads that appear in the report are new download events. Updates to existing apps are not included in the Download Report. Download numbers include trial, free, and paid app downloads.

2. Why is the data in my reports not shown for the current date?

In the Downloads Report, the data is 6 days prior to the current date. For example, if you view your Download Report on 8 December, 2010, the chart is going to show data as of 2 December, 2010. The delay is the time it takes for credit card transactions to complete.

The daily download details chart on the main page reports the last 30 days prior to 6 days prior to the current date. The daily download details chart reports for the date range selected in the filters. The daily cumulative downloads chart reports for the date range selected in the filters.

Data in the Windows Mobile 6.x Fulfillment report will have data only until the 25th of each month. The remaining days until the end of the month will be shown in the next Fulfillment report.

Download reports are separate for Windows Phone and Windows Mobile 6.x; however, both are accessible from the reports section on App Hub.

3. Why doesn’t the Most Downloaded number in the App Highlights data match the Reports data?

App Highlights displays 30 days of data. Use the daily download details report to select the full date range available. App Highlights download numbers include trial, free, and paid app downloads.

4. Why doesn’t the My Apps data match the Reports data?

My Apps displays 30 days of data. Use the daily download details report to select the full date range available. My Apps download numbers include trial, free, and paid app downloads.

5. How do I reconcile data between the daily and cumulative downloads?

The cumulative downloads chart shows the total number of downloads for the application since it was published. If you want to compare the daily and cumulative downloads data, filter the date range for the report to have a start date before the publication of the application. Please note that the download report shows the number of purchases and not the literal number of downloads. Therefore, you will see the true purchase events of your application, whether the application is paid, trial, or free.

6. How frequently are the reports updated?

The Download report is updated once a day. The Payout report is updated once a month after the payout processing is complete for that month. The Royalty Report will be available only for those accounts that received a payout.

7. Can I export the data from the reports?

Yes, you can use the Export to Excel functionality from the Dashboard.

8. Where can I provide feedback on the reports?

You can send your comments or suggestions for improvement of the App Hub reports to App Hub reports.

Include the following information with your comments or suggestions:

  • Your Windows Live ID

  • Your Publisher or Company name

We appreciate your feedback and time, but we may not be able to respond to every email. However, we do consider all feedback sent to further improve the Reporting experience.

Note Note:

This email address is not for support questions. For support issues, see our Support page.

9. Can I view details around my payouts?

Yes, you can view both Summary and Payout Details from your Dashboard. You can view the data in different ways by using the filter options on the page. Also, you can Export your results into Excel at any time.

10. Can I get information about how my app is performing?

Yes, the Windows Phone Dashboard provides Crash reporting that can also be drilled down to the Stack Traces. You can view the data in different ways by using the filter options on the page. These reports can be Exported to Excel.

11. Is there a delay for the Crash report?

Yes, there is a 3-day delay in the crash reports to account for the time that it takes for the data to be transmitted from phone devices to Microsoft.

12. Why do I see data in the Crash report but not the Download report?

The delay for the Download report is 4 days, while the delay for the Crash report is 3 days. For new apps, this means that you might see data in the Crash report before you see any downloads. For new apps, you might also see disproportionately higher numbers in the Crash report than in the Download report.
