Sends the specified message to an SMTP server for delivery as an asynchronous operation. . The message sender, recipients, subject, and message body are specified using String objects.

A String that contains the addresses that the message is sent to.

Type: System.Threading.Tasks.Task
Returns Task.
The task object representing the asynchronous operation.


from is a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).


recipients is a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic).


from is Empty.


recipients is Empty.

This operation will not block. The returned Task> object will complete once the message has been sent.


The HostProtectionAttribute attribute applied to this type or member has the following Resources property value: ExternalThreading. The HostProtectionAttribute does not affect desktop applications (which are typically started by double-clicking an icon, typing a command, or entering a URL in a browser).
