Understanding Code You Did Not Write

You can use the Class Designer as a tool to help you understand classes and types written by others. The tool displays a graphical representation of the code. You can customize this view to suit your preferences; for example, you can show more detail or less, group and filter members of types, explicitly hide members, and display lines that indicate relationships such as inheritance.

You can also choose to visualize the same project in different ways. To do this, create multiple class diagrams in the project and then customize each one to focus on different details. For more information, see How to: Add Class Diagrams to Projects.
