Preparing for Kernel Anti Virus Filters Testing

Note  This content applies to the Windows Logo Kit (WLK). For the latest information using the new Windows Hardware Certification Kit (HCK), see Windows HCK User's Guide on the Windows Hardware Dev Center.

Before running the tests, you must first configure the system and install the operating system. This section summarizes the related procedures.

For a complete list of required hardware, software, and tester knowledge, see the Kernel Anti Virus Filters Testing Overview.

Many of the tests in the Windows Logo Kit require a test system to restart (often more than once) to complete a test run. The test description and the running instructions specify whether a test requires a system restart. Although these tests programmatically restart the test system, you must manually log on to the test system after each system restart so that the test run can resume.

Test system configuration

To configure the test system, follow these steps:

Note  Please refer to the following table to see the letter assignment for each volume:

NTFS g:
CNTFS i:
Fat16 k:
Fat32 l:
ExFat m:
UDF n:

  1. On the client machine, several volumes need to be present (NTFS 2gb, ntfs compressed 2gb, fat16 1gb, Fat32 1gb, Exfat 1gb, UDF 2gb).
  2. In the controller, modify the parameters on the jobs undef $\WDK Tests\Storage\Filesystems\ to point to test volumes, as follows:
    1. TxF2: Modify ntfs and cntfs to point at test volumes.
    2. ReparsePoints: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
    3. Installable Filesystems filter test: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
    4. Antivirus Installable Filesystems filter test: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
    5. File IO test: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
    6. Mapped File IO test: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
    7. Object ID test: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
    8. Oplocks test: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
    9. Syscache test: Modify ntfs, cntfs, fat, fat32, exfat, udf to point at test volumes.
  3. On the server, create share RDRTest.
  4. Modify the parameters on $\WDK Tests\Leasing\SMB_OplockRDR test to point at the server name and share name.
