This topic describes the Connection Monitor Application Block, which monitors the available connections and networks through which the smart client application can connect to services. The Connection Monitor Application Block provides the following features:

  • Network connectivity. This feature provides an indication of current connectivity of developer-defined networks by raising events that the application can subscribe to so that it receives notification when network status changes are detected. Network status changes are detected when the connectivity status of physical network adapters change.
  • Connectionmonitoring. This feature provides an indication of the current status of physical network adapters.
  • Pricing. This feature associates a cost with each type of connection, using whole number values. Applications can choose whether to use a network, depending on the current connection's price.
