a.   The standard defines the element <munder>

This element is supported in Word 2007.

On load, Word 2007 maps an <munder> element to one of four different elements: <nAry>, <underbar>, <groupChr>, or <limLow>. Word 2007 identifies the type of <munder> element using the following criteria:

  1. Word 2007 maps an <munder> element to an <nAry> element when the following conditions are true:

  • the accentunder attribute is false

  • the first child of the <munder> element is an nAry operator.

  • the operator is not contained inside any structure other than an <mml:mo>, <mml:mstyle>, or <mml:mrow> element

  1. Word 2007 maps an <munder> element to an <underbar> element when the following conditions are true:

  • the accentunder attribute is false

  • the second child of an <munder> element is a <mo> element

  • the operator of the second child equals 0x0332

  1. Word 2007 maps an <munder> element to a <groupchr> element when the following conditions are true:

  • when the accentunder attribute is false

  • one child of the <munder> element is an <mrow> element and another child is a <mo> element

  • the number of chars in the <mo> element is less than or equal to 1

  1. Otherwise, Word 2007 maps the <munder> element to the <limLow> element.
