Vwa.Shape.addOverlay Method

Creates a visual overlay based on the specified content and in the specified position.

var value = Shape.addOverlay(string overlayID, string content, Vwa.HorizontalAlignment horizontalPosition, Vwa.VerticalAlignment verticalPosition, integer overlayWidth, integer overlayHeight)

overlayID A string that represents the identifier (ID) of the overlay. It must be unique among all the overlay identifiers.

content A string that specifies the HTML content of the overlay if the display mode is Vwa.DisplayMode.raster, or the XAML content of the overlay if the display mode is Vwa.DisplayMode.silverlight.

horizontalPosition A Vwa.HorizontalAlignment constant that specifies the horizontal position of the center of the overlay, relative to the bounding box of the shape.

verticalPosition A Vwa.VerticalAlignment constant that specifies the vertical position of the center of the overlay, relative to the bounding box of the shape.

overlayWidth A positive integer that specifies the width of the overlay, in pixels.

overlayHeight A positive integer that specifies the height of the overlay, in pixels.

Object Returns the underlying object that represents the overlay.

Shapes can have one or more overlays. The Web Part infrastructure is responsible for zooming and panning overlays with the original drawing.

The underlying object that represents the overlay is either a <div> HTML element if the current display mode is Vwa.DisplayMode.raster or a <Canvas> XAML element if the current display mode is Vwa.DisplayMode.silverlight. To determine what the current display mode is, you can use the Vwa.VwaControl.getDisplayMode method.

For more information about how to add a Visio Web Access Web Part to a SharePoint Web Parts page, see Customizing Visio Web Drawings in the Visio Web Access Web Part.

The following example adds a handler to the Vwa.shapeselectionchanged event that creates either an HTML or a XAML transparent overlay on the selected shape, depending on the display mode.
