Migrating Enterprise Templates to Visual Studio 2005

Visual Studio 2005

If you created an Enterprise Template with Visual Studio .NET 2002 or 2003 and want to reuse or modify that template for use with Visual Studio 2005, you must manually migrate your template to a Visual Studio Templates and Policy Wizard. If you want to migrate a project created with an enterprise template, you can use the Visual Studio Migration Wizard.

Migrating an Existing Enterprise Template Project to Visual Studio 2005

You can use the Visual Studio Migration Wizard to migrate existing solutions that were made using Enterprise Templates. Since Visual Studio 2005 no longer uses .etp files, all Enterprise Template projects present in your solution will be converted to Visual Studio Solution Folders of the same name. Solutions Folders are logical, rather than physical, folders specified in the Visual Studio Solution file. As with Enterprise Template Projects, Solution Folders may contain other Solution Folders and/or projects and files, and may have policy files associated with them. Once the migration is complete, Visual Studio deletes the Enterprise Template Projects from the solution.
