2.1.6 [RFC3501] Section 9, Rule Regarding Spaces

The specification states: "In all cases, SP refers to exactly one space. It is NOT permitted to substitute TAB, insert additional spaces, or otherwise treat SP as being equivalent to LWSP."

Microsoft Exchange Server strictly follows the rules when sending responses. When parsing a command from the client, Microsoft Exchange accepts a TAB character as a delimiter of the command itself, but allows only one space in all other places.
