2.1 Transport

This section describes the transport protocols that are implemented by the operating systems discussed in section 1, and which are used in transporting SMB messages.<1> Other transports may be available from third parties. In this document, the transport layer is referred to generically as the "SMB transport". The server assigns an implementation-specific name to each transport, as specified in [MS-SRVS] section 2.2.4.96.
