public static CultureInfo GetCultureInfo(
	string name,
	string altName
)

Parameters

name
Type: System.String

The name of a culture.

altName
Type: System.String

The name of a culture that supplies the TextInfo and CompareInfo objects used to initialize name.

Return Value

Type: System.Globalization.CultureInfo
A read-only CultureInfo object.

ExceptionCondition
ArgumentNullException

name or altName is null.

ArgumentException

name or altName specifies a culture that is not supported.

For a list of predefined culture names, see the National Language Support (NLS) API Reference at the Go Global Developer Center.

The GetCultureInfo method obtains a cached, read-only culture object more quickly than a new culture object is created with the CultureInfo constructor. Your application should clear the cache with the ClearCachedData method.

The GetCultureInfo method is typically used by tools that need to efficiently load resources or create multiple instances of a culture.

Use the GetCultureInfo method to create a culture similar to name, but with different sorting and casing rules.
