How do I reset my Management Reporter password for a company after it expires?

If you have saved your credentials for logging on to a company and those credentials have expired, the credentials must be reset. To reset the credentials:

  1. Open Report Designer. On the Company menu, click Companies.

  2. Select the company for which credentials have expired, and then click Credentials.

  3. Enter the new credentials for logging on to the company.

  4. Click OK to save settings.

How do I change the date format on a report?

Management Reporter uses the date format that is selected in the Region and Language Formats settings on the client computer. For example, if you specify Long date in a Management Reporter header and you do not want the day of the week to be printed in the header, click Start, select Control Panel, and then click Region and Language. Select a Long date option that does not include the day of the week setting (dddd).

The default date setting for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 English (United States) is dddd, MMMM dd, yyyy, where dddd represents the day of the week, MMMM represents the month, dd represents the date, and yyyy represents the year.

Note

When you change these settings, the new date formats are displayed in the Examples area of the Region and Language Formats dialog box. These settings are the same as what is displayed in Management Reporter headers.

How do I view log files?

The log files provide additional information for troubleshooting. You can view Management Reporter log files by using Windows Event Viewer or Windows Explorer. For more information, see View log files.

How do I enter the registration or license key?

The Management Reporter license key is provided by your Microsoft Partner and is usually entered at the time of installation. After it is entered, it displays the company name, expiration date, and number of users who can be assigned to the roles of administrator, designer, generator, and viewer. Management Reporter has an evaluation period of 90 days. During that time, the installation user can assign a total of five users, which includes the installation account, two users who have the role of administrator or designer, and two users who have the role of generator or viewer. If Management Reporter is not registered after the 90-day evaluation period, a dialog box will prompt you for a license key. If you do not enter a license key, you can no longer use Management Reporter.

To enter the license key:

  1. Open Report Designer.

  2. On the Tools menu, click Registration. The Registration dialog box opens.

  3. Enter the license key in the License key field, and then click Validate.

For more information, see the Management Reporter installation guide on the Download Center.

Why do I receive an error when I try to create a new Management Reporter user?

The license key that you purchase for Management Reporter grants you access to a specific number of user roles. When you have exceeded the total number of licensed users allowed by the license key, you must inactivate other users or purchase additional licenses in order to add more users. See your Microsoft Certified Partner for more information about licenses and license configurations.

To connect to Microsoft Excel, the server computer must have Microsoft Office or additional components installed. For more information, see Management Reporter installation guide.

Why do I receive an error when I try to change companies in Management Reporter?

When you log on to a company in Management Reporter, you are provided credentials for Management Reporter to access information in the Microsoft Dynamics ERP database. If you encounter an error when you log on to a company, verify the following information:

  • The credentials that you provide in Management Reporter match the credentials required for your Microsoft Dynamics ERP system.

  • The company information is stored on the server that you are accessing.

Verification procedures and required logon credentials will vary, depending on your Microsoft Dynamics ERP system. For more information, see the data provider guide for your ERP system.

Why does my Excel report display different values than my Management Reporter report?

If your report definition is set to Rounding and if the processing order is set to perform calculations first before rounding the values, then the TOT formulas in Excel might display a different value than Management reporter. For more information, see Export a report in Desktop Viewer.
