Industry 8 Enterprise Edition Features (Industry 8)
Review the features that are available in the Enterprise edition of Windows Embedded 8 Industry (Industry 8).
Some features of Windows Embedded 8 Industry (Industry 8) are only available in the Windows Embedded 8 Industry Enterprise (Industry 8 Enterprise) edition and are not available in the Windows Embedded 8 Industry Professional (Industry 8 Professional) edition.
The sections below describe the features available only in Industry 8 Enterprise.
AppLocker enables you to specify which users or groups can run particular applications in your organization based on the unique identities of files. If you use AppLocker, you can create rules to allow or deny applications from running. Applications can include:
Executable flies (.exe and .com)
Scripts (.js, .ps1, .vbs, .cmd and .bat)
Windows installer files (.msi and .msp)
DLL files (.dll and .ocx)
BranchCache enables you to optimize wide area network (WAN) bandwidth by copying content from a main office or hosted cloud content server and then caching that content at branch office locations, allowing client computers at those branch offices to access the content locally rather than over the WAN.
DirectAccess enables your users to automatically connect to your corporate network whenever their DirectAccess enabled device is connected to the Internet.
OfflineFiles enables your users to designate files hosted on a shared network folder that should be made available offline. Offline Files then creates a copy of these files on the local device and will automatically sync these files and open the local versions when the network versions are not available.
Sideload Windows 8 Apps
Sideloading allows you to install and run Windows 8 apps on your Industry 8 Enterprise devices without having to go through the Windows Store.
