TextWriter.Write Method (Object)

Writes the text representation of an object to the text stream by calling ToString on that object.

Namespace:  System.IO
Assembly:  mscorlib (in mscorlib.dll)

abstract Write :
        value:Object -> unit
override Write :
        value:Object -> unit

Parameters

value
Type: System.Object
The object to write.

ExceptionCondition
ObjectDisposedException

The TextWriter is closed.

IOException

An I/O error occurs.

This version of Write is equivalent to Write .

If the specified object is a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic), no action is taken and no exception is thrown. Otherwise, the object's ToString method is called to produce the string representation, and the resulting string is then written to the output stream. The FormatProvider property, if not a null reference (Nothing in Visual Basic), specifies the culture-specific formatting.

For a list of common I/O tasks, see Common I/O Tasks.
