1.6 Versioning and Localization

This document covers versioning issues in the following areas:

Structure versions: The revision store supports the introduction of new FileNode structure (section 2.4.3) types, Object types (section 2.6.14), and PropertyIDs (section 2.6.6) by future implementers or this specification. Programs that implement this structure specification that encounter data that identifies itself as a type that is unknown to the application will ignore that data and leave it unchanged when persisting the file again.

If the value of the Header.ffvOldestCodeThatMayReadThisFile field is greater than 0x0000002A, programs that implement this structure specification ignore all other data in the file.

Localization: This structure defines no general locale-specific processes or data.
