IWMReaderAdvanced2::SetPlayMode method (wmsdkidl.h)

[The feature associated with this page, Windows Media Format 11 SDK, is a legacy feature. It has been superseded by Source Reader and Sink Writer. Source Reader and Sink Writer have been optimized for Windows 10 and Windows 11. Microsoft strongly recommends that new code use Source Reader and Sink Writer instead of Windows Media Format 11 SDK, when possible. Microsoft suggests that existing code that uses the legacy APIs be rewritten to use the new APIs if possible.]

The SetPlayMode method specifies the play mode.

Syntax

HRESULT SetPlayMode(
  [in] WMT_PLAY_MODE Mode
);

Parameters

[in] Mode

Variable containing one member of the WMT_PLAY_MODE enumeration type.

Return value

If the method succeeds, it returns S_OK. If it fails, it returns an HRESULT error code.

Remarks

The default play mode is WMT_PLAY_MODE_AUTOSELECT, which enables the reader to pick the mode. If the application selects a play mode that is incompatible with the requested URL, an error is returned when the URL is opened. After the asynchronous reply to the Open request is completed, the mode is changed from WMT_PLAY_MODE_AUTOSELECT to the appropriately selected play mode. The play mode cannot be changed after the content has been opened, and returns an error if this is attempted.
