LinkExtensions.ActionLink Method (HtmlHelper, String, String, Object, Object)

Returns an anchor element (a element) for the specified link text, action, route values, and HTML attributes.

Parameters

htmlHelper
Type: System.Web.Mvc.HtmlHelper
The HTML helper instance that this method extends.
linkText
Type: System.String
The inner text of the anchor element.
actionName
Type: System.String
The name of the action.
routeValues
Type: System.Object
An object that contains the parameters for a route. The parameters are retrieved through reflection by examining the properties of the object. The object is typically created by using object initializer syntax.
htmlAttributes
Type: System.Object
An object that contains the HTML attributes for the element. The attributes are retrieved through reflection by examining the properties of the object. The object is typically created by using object initializer syntax.

Return Value

Type: System.Web.Mvc.MvcHtmlString
An anchor element (a element).

Usage Note

In Visual Basic and C#, you can call this method as an instance method on any object of type HtmlHelper. When you use instance method syntax to call this method, omit the first parameter. The linkText parameter is null or empty.
