Purpose
The Windows Gadget Platform is the framework for creating and hosting mini-applications called gadgets on the Windows desktop.
Developer audience
This platform is designed for use by gadget developers who want to create compelling and personalized desktop experiences. It is also for Windows Vista Sidebar gadget developers who want to transition to the Windows Gadget Platform.
Familiarity with HTML and Web-based scripting languages, such as JScript and VBScript, is required.

If you guys had realized the potential of gadgets...
Then I wouldn't be writing here. What is Metro UI all about? You had everything already with Seven. But yet you close down gadgets leave all devs in the dark and expect us to love your upcomming product? If you had done your homework back in the day and released productivity apps such as hotmail inbox alerts and perhaps an automation tool such as TASKER for Android, then we wouldn't have this conversation. Why ruin such a great idea, why take a product like web messenger offline? It makes no sense. And in return you package almost every add-on with your BING Bar. Can't you see that spamming your customers with BLOATWARE like a BAR add-on tarnishes your reputation as serious company? Do you take any pride over the work of your predecessors that made this brand stand out in the past?

kids in mind
to those who develop these gadgets I was wondering if someone would create a kids timer. Especially for those parents who work on do a lot of stuff on the computer. Something that could be used for time outs and just to give the kids a time to do something within a time limit.... One for multiple kids would be wonderful.
