Layer 2 Tunneling Protocol (L2TP) IPsec Extensions (L2TPIE) is based on L2TP [RFC2661], [L2TP-draft], and securing L2TP with IPsec [RFC3193] protocols. L2TPIE supports only IPsec transport mode. The following network stack diagram demonstrates the L2TP relationship with other protocols in an IPsec transport mode.
