Microsoft® SQL Services delivers on Microsoft’s Data Platform vision of extending the SQL Server capabilities in cloud as web-based services. It enables you to store data from structured, semi-structured, and unstructured data. SQL Services will deliver a rich set of integrated services that enable you to perform relational queries, search, reporting, analytics, integration and synchronize data with mobile users, remote offices and business partners. Currently, SQL Services offers relational database service called Microsoft® SQL Data Services. Other services will be available in future.

SQL Data Services

Microsoft® SQL Data Services (SDS) offers highly scalable and Internet-facing distributed database services in the cloud for storing and processing relational queries. SDS can help you develop and provision new applications quickly with REST and SOAP based web protocols. The services are built on robust SQL Server database and Windows Server technologies, providing high availability and security. For more information, see SQL Data Services (SDS).
