This Quick Start integration guide has been removed as part of the continuing evolution of federated identity services from Microsoft®. Federation with the Microsoft Federation Gateway service is still described in detail in Microsoft Federation Gateway.

In the coming months, we will introduce programs to assist you in establishing a live federated-identity relationship with Microsoft via either of two standards:

• Web services specifications (WS-*)
  
• Security Assertion Markup Language (SAML) 2.x
  

Even now, educational institutions can provide their students with free e-mail and online tools through Microsoft Live@edu; to enroll or just to find out more, see http://www.microsoft.com/liveatedu. More federation-based offers will be announced in the near future.
