3.3.4.1.1 Creating Proxy from Request URI and Server Type

If the Request URI is not well-formed, the higher layer MUST be notified of the error. The format of the Request URI for TCP is specified in the TcpUriString section. The format of the Request URI for HTTP is specified in [RFC2616] section 3.2.2.

The implementation MUST create a new Proxy instance and add the Proxy, Request URI, Server Type name, Transport Protocol information, and the serialization format to the Proxy Table. The mechanism for determining the serialization format and the Transport Protocol for the given Request URI is implementation-specific and beyond the scope of this protocol.
