Bing Maps Web Services is a set of Windows Communication Foundation (WCF) SOAP services. To make requests to the Bing Maps Web Services, you must have:

• A deployment computer with an Internet connection, and the ability to send requests and receive responses using Basic Security Profile Version 1.1 (SOAP 1.1 and WSDL 1.1 protocols).
  
  
• A Bing Maps Platform developer account. Sign up for a free evaluation account at https://www.bingmapsportal.com. You will need a Windows Live ID to create an account. See the Accessing the Bing Maps Web Services topic for more information.
  
  

Bing Maps Web Services is built on XML and WCF technologies. It has been highly tested for environments using the .NET platform and Visual Studio .NET tools for Web service development. Other environments and toolkits have not been fully tested, but may work with the Bing Maps Web Services.
