Editing window overview

In Microsoft Expression Web, you edit web pages in the editing window. When you open a website, Expression Web adds a Web Site tab to your editing window. For more information, see Website views.

  1. The files you have open appear as tabs at the top of the editing window. The file you are currently editing is highlighted.

    To switch from one page to another, press CTRL+TAB or CTRL+SHIFT+TAB.

  2. To close the page you are editing, click the Close button Cc295418.33098313-ad88-4eb5-8d74-9aaa1444a5cd(en-us,Expression.10).gif.

  3. HTML tags appear in the Quick Tag Selector bar in nested order. You can click a tag to select it or click the down arrow next to it for more options. For more information, see Quick Tag Selector.

  4. Use the Design Cc295418.6bf32526-2985-4b62-a891-1a88dd9c41fa(en-us,Expression.10).gif, Split Cc295418.d5cda7e6-c4a4-401b-836a-d953d5ab5462(en-us,Expression.10).gif and Code Cc295418.9240662d-5c80-4b69-9edd-c8c7b41c4a7f(en-us,Expression.10).gif buttons to change the page view. Design

Split

Review and edit web page content in a split screen format that offers you simultaneous access to both Code and Design views.

When you are working in Split view, to apply changes you made in Code view to Design view, press F5.

Code

View, write, and edit the HTML tags yourself. With the optimized code features in Expression Web, you can create clean HTML, and it is easier for you to remove any code that you do not want.
