Copy and paste a document

You can quickly and easily copy and paste or cut and paste a document or an item by working directly in the Projects panel.

NoteNote

If the file is a .xaml document with a corresponding code-behind file (.vb or .cs), the code-behind file is also cut or copied.

tip noteTip

You can also paste the document into Windows Explorer or onto the desktop.

To copy and paste a document or project item

  1. In the Projects panel, right-click the document or item that you want to copy, and then select Copy.

  2. If you want to paste the document or item elsewhere in the project folder tree, such as in another folder, right-click the appropriate location, and then select Paste.

To cut and paste a document or project item

  1. In the Projects panel, right-click the document or item that you want to cut, and then click Cut.

  2. If you want to paste the document or item elsewhere in the project folder tree, such as in another folder, right-click the appropriate location, and then click Paste.
