Select and hide objects using the Layers panel

When an object is located behind other paths (in other words, when it's lower in the object stack), it is sometimes hard to select it using the selection tools. Fortunately, you can always select an object by clicking its icon or label in the Layers panel.

To select a single object in the Layers panel

  1. In the Layers panel, click the triangle to the left of the layer's name to expand the layer that contains your object.

  2. Click the tile or the label to select it.

To select multiple objects

  • Press SHIFT+click on each item you want to add to your selection, either in the panel or on your document page.

You can remove an object from your selection by pressing SHIFT+click on any object that's already selected.
