Use sliders and galleries in panels
Each panel in Microsoft Expression Design contains controls that let you modify or format paths and shapes, and offer lots of flexibility when you know how they work. Here's a quick rundown on how to get the most out of these controls.
A slider is useful when you want to quickly fine-tune the value of an attribute, such as the opacity of a fill.

To adjust the value in a slider
Select a slider and do one of the following:
Drag the slider
up or to the right to increase the value, or down or to the left to reduce the value.Click the slider, and type a numeric value.
Expression Design displays custom color swatches, brush strokes, and fonts in drop-down lists or galleries. A gallery is divided into three sections: Favorites, MostRecent, and Categories (named Typefaces in the Font gallery).

To select an item from a gallery
In the Properties panel, under Appearance, next to the Color Swatches, Brush Stroke, or Font displays, click the drop-down arrow to display the gallery.
To select an item, click it.
To move a selection to the Favorites section, drag it from the Most Recent, Categories, or Typefaces sections.
