Delete a document, item, project, or solution

  • Under Files in the Project panel, right-click the document or item that you want to delete, and then select Delete.

    Right-clicking an item in the Files list in the Project panel and then clicking Delete will permanently remove the copy of the item that you added to your project folder, but it won't remove any copies of that item that you may have saved elsewhere on your computer.

  • Under Files in the Project panel, right-click the document or item that you want to delete, and then select Remove from Project.

    References and linked files cannot be deleted but can be removed from your project folder using the Remove from Project command.

  1. On the File menu, click Close Solution or Close Site.

  2. In Windows Explorer, browse to the location where the project or solution is saved, and then delete the entire folder by pressing DELETE.
