Transform image fills

After you fill a shape or path with an image fill, you can move, scale, rotate, or skew the fill independently of the path itself. You have two ways to do this: by using either the Transform Fill tool or the Transform Fill pane.

To transform a fill using the Transform Fill tool

  1. Select one or more paths or shapes that contain an image or gradient fill.

  2. In the Toolbox, select the Fill Transform tool Cc294635.44ac4043-0600-4643-8fef-67d531624598(en-us,Expression.10).png.

  3. To shift the image or pattern, drag inside the path. To scale, rotate, or skew the image or pattern, drag the resize and rotate handles as you would to transform an object or nodes.

For more information about resize and rotation handles, see Use resize and rotation handles.

The Transform Fill pop-up window is a more precise method of transforming an image fill.

If you change your mind, you can reset any transformations applied to an image fill.

  3. On the Transform Fill panel, click Reset.
