2.1 Transport

When MSCHAPv2 is used as an EAPauthentication method, protocols that carry EAP ultimately provide the transport of the encapsulated MSCHAPv2 messages, for example, the Point-to-Point Protocol (PPP) [RFC1661], 802.1X [IEEE802.1X], and RADIUS [RFC2865].

In the following diagram, the shaded regions represent the Extensible Authentication Protocol Method for Microsoft CHAP.
