3.1.2.2 Delayed Acknowledgment Timer

The Delayed Acknowledgment Timer that is used to reduce the frequency of dedicated acknowledgments (ACKs) so that they can be piggybacked onto return traffic or multiple receives, can be covered by a single reply. The recommended value is 100 milliseconds for normal ACKs and 20 milliseconds when acknowledging out-of-order or duplicate packets. However, it can be any value that maximizes ACK coalescence opportunity without introducing an undesirable latency under the particular application circumstances.
