As a leader in the software industry, Microsoft® recognizes its responsibility to develop technology that is accessible and usable to everyone, including those with disabilities. To make this vision a reality, Microsoft is committed to educating developers on how to create accessible technology.

Microsoft UI Automation is the new model for exposing rich semantic information about an application's interface and using that information to create assistive technology products or automated testing utilities. It is designed to provide a single reliable source of graphical UI information across applications and allow test developers or assistive technology developers to write to a consistent model that works with any GUI application. It will be available with Microsoft Windows Vista®.

Microsoft Active Accessibility 2.0 is a COM-based technology that improves the way accessibility aids work with applications running on Microsoft Windows® operating systems. It provides dynamic-link libraries that are incorporated into the operating system as well as a COM interface and application programming elements that provide reliable methods for exposing information about user interface elements.
