Microsoft Dynamics Mobile - Server Components Prerequisites

Microsoft Dynamics Mobile - Server Components provides integration between a mobile device and your business solution. Depending on the topology of your network, you can install different Microsoft Dynamics Mobile - Server Components on different computers. For example, you can install the document, logging, and deployment services on a different computer than the SQL Server databases that are used by these services. Before you install Microsoft Dynamics Mobile - Server Components on computers on your network, you must ensure that they meet the prerequisites.

To give you an overview of Microsoft Dynamics Mobile - Server Components in the mobile architecture, the following figure illustrates a sample installation scenario when integrating with Microsoft Dynamics NAV using Web services.

Installation Requirements

The following table lists the software requirement for Microsoft Dynamics Mobile - Server Components:

Component Software requirement

Document, Logging, Deployment databases

  • Operating system:

    Windows Server 2003, SP2, Standard Edition, 32 and 64 bit

    Windows Server 2008 Standard Edition, 32 and 64 bit

    —or—

    Microsoft Hyper-V

  • Microsoft SQL Server 2005 or Microsoft SQL Server 2008, including SQL Server Management Studio.

Document, management, logging, deployment services

  • Operating system:

    Windows Server 2003, SP2, Standard Edition, 32 or 64 bit

    Windows Server 2008, 32 or 64 bit

  • Microsoft Internet Information Services (IIS) 6.0 or 7.0.

    IIS 6.0 and IIS 7.0 must be setup with a number of components and role services. For more information, see Internet Information Services (IIS) Setup .

For the Microsoft Dynamics Mobile - Server Components Web services to work properly on an IIS 6.0 Web server, the following components must be installed in IIS 6.0.
