Overview

This test is required to obtain a logo for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008 systems that include the BitLocker Drive Encryption feature. This test makes sure that the disk partitions on the system meet the BitLocker Drive Encryption requirements for Windows Vista and Windows Server 2008.
 
A properly configured system that supports BitLocker Drive Encryption must have a separate system partition (configured as Active, System), separate from the Windows Vista or Windows Server 2008 operating system partition (configured as Boot, Page File, Crash Dump). The system partition must be a minimum of 1.5 GB. 

Details

This test tool validates that the system, intended to support BitLocker Drive Encryption (BDE), provides a second hard disk drive (HDD) partition, separate from the operating system partition, that is formatted as NTFS and has at least the amount of reserved space that is required for BDE files and utilities.
 
If the system does not have the BitLocker Drive Encryption feature installed on the system, this test will be skipped.  (When you are testing for Windows Server 2008, you must install the optional BitLocker Drive Encryption component, so this test will always be run.)

Running BitLocker Drive Encryption System Partition Validation Test

Make sure that the DTM Framework is installed.
 
As an alternative, run this test without DTM by following these steps:
  • Run the following in the command line: SSSystemPartitionValidation.exe
