Add or remove a member association

Member associations let you specify associations at the member level. To create a member association, you must first create a dimension association for the dimension that contains the member. For information, see Add or remove a dimension association.

The following list provides additional information about how Planning Business Modeler handles member association.

  • When you select a non-leaf node in a hierarchy, everything underneath the node is also selected.

  • When you create an identical mapping between source and destination Time dimensions, Planning Server does not store the member association for non-leaf nodes. Thus, these associations will not be used in data movement.

To add a member association

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, select Associations.

  2. In the Associations workspace, click an association to check it out.

    Note

If the underlying metadata has changed, an error occurs when you try to check out an association.

  3. Select the Member Associations tab.

  4. Select a dimension association from the Dimensions mapped list.

  5. At the Source dimension members table, select a dimension association hierarchy from the member view list. Then, at the Destination dimension members table, select a dimension association hierarchy from the member view list.

  6. Use one of the following procedures.

    • Select one or more source dimension members from the Source dimension members table and one destination dimension member from the Destination dimension members table, and then click Add Mapping.

    • Click Map Identical to create associations between source dimension members and destination dimension members that have matching names.

The background color of the mapped source and the destination dimension members changes to indicate that the dimension members are mapped. After a member is mapped, you cannot use it as part of another mapping.

To remove a member association

  3. Select the Member Associations tab.

  4. Select a source or destination dimension member from the Source dimension members table or the Destination dimension members table, and then click Remove Mapping. The background color of the dimension members changes to indicate that the dimension members are no longer mapped.

To remove all member associations
