Creating a new rule set

You can create a new set of business rules in the Business Rules workspace.

To create a new rule set

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, click Models.

  2. In the model site workspace, click a row in the table to open a model.

  3. Click the Business Rules tab.

If you do not have the model checked out, in the Model Tasks pane, click Check Out.

  4. In the rule grid pane, highlight the rule set type that matches the kind of rule set that you want to create.

The type of rule set that you can create is context-sensitive, and depends on the rule set that you select in this step. For example, to create a Definition rule set, highlight Definition; to create an Automatic rule set, highlight Automatic; and so on.

  5. On the Actions menu, click Create a New Rule Set. This displays the Create New Rule Set dialog box.

  6. In the Name text box, type a name for the new rule set. Then, in the Label text box, type a unique label for the new rule set.

    Note

For more information about how to create names and labels, see About names and labels.

  7. Optional. In the Description text box, type a description for the new rule set.

  8. Optional. Click the Root rule set check box if you want the new rule set to be a root rule set.

  9. From the Type drop-down list, select the type of rule set.

The options that are available in the drop-down list are context-sensitive and depend on the rule set type you selected in step 4.

  10. Click OK. The new rule set is added to the business rules table.
