Add or remove an assumption

Some models are designed to rely on assumption data to enable certain types of analysis, such as forecasting. For example, a model designed for revenue forecasting might rely on price lists, that is, assumption data subject to change. In Planning Business Modeler, assumption data is contained in an assumption model, which can be added (or linked) to main models, such as Management Reporting models. You can add multiple assumption models to a single main model.

To add or remove assumptions

  1. In the Workspace Browser pane, click Models. All of the models for the current application are shown in the Models pane.

  2. In the Models pane of the workspace, click a non-assumptions model to which you want to add assumption models.

On the Summary page, if the model currently has assumptions linked to it, they will be listed under the Assumptions subheading. In addition, the dimensions in the linked assumptions will be listed under the Dimensions subheading, together with the dimensions in the main model.

  3. In the Model Tasks pane of the workspace, click Check Out.

  4. In the Model Tasks pane of the workspace, click Manage Assumptions. The Manage Assumptions dialog box appears.

  5. Add or remove assumption models as follows:

    • Add selected assumptions.

To add an assumption, select it in the Available assumption models column, and then click the right single-arrow button. Repeat for each assumption model that you want to link to the main model.

    • Remove all the assumptions at the same time, or remove selected assumptions.

To remove all the assumptions, click the left double-arrow button.

To remove a single assumption, select it in the Selected assumption models column, and then click the left single-arrow button. Repeat for each assumption model that you want to remove from the main model.

  6. Click OK.

Note that assumptions that you added or removed are reflected on the Summary page for the model and under the Assumptions subheading.
