char *lpStr1;
lpStr1 = buffer_1;

// String path name 2.
char buffer_2[ ] = "path\\file";
char *lpStr2;
lpStr2 = buffer_2;

// Variable to get the return from "PathIsRoot".
int retval;

// Test case with path not absolute.
retval = PathIsRoot(lpStr1);
cout << "The return from function is       :" << retval << endl;
cout << "The path does contain a root part :" << lpStr1 << endl;

// Test case with path absolute.

cout << "The return from function is       :" << retval << endl;
cout << "The path does not contain part    :" << lpStr2 << endl;
}

OUTPUT:

Note

The shlwapi.h header defines PathIsRoot as an alias which automatically selects the ANSI or Unicode version of this function based on the definition of the UNICODE preprocessor constant. Mixing usage of the encoding-neutral alias with code that not encoding-neutral can lead to mismatches that result in compilation or runtime errors. For more information, see Conventions for Function Prototypes.
