  • Side-by-side installation of both Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP2 and SharePoint Foundation 2010 is not supported.

Installing the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Service

The Windows SharePoint Service Adapter Web service is installed on the Windows SharePoint Services server(s). The adapter communicates with this web service to do all of its work on the Windows SharePoint Services server.

Selecting the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Service component during BizTalk Server setup installs the necessary software for the Windows SharePoint Services adapter to process incoming and outgoing documents through Windows SharePoint Services. This Web service must be installed on the server where Windows SharePoint Services is installed.

The adapter Web service can handle multiple SharePoint sites regardless of whether they are on the same Internet Information Services (IIS) site or on different IIS sites.

Using BizTalk Server with Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007

The BizTalk Server Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web service can be installed and configured on a Web site that has been extended as a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server 2007 Web application. The BizTalk Server Windows SharePoint Services Adapter can also connect to a Web site that has been extended as a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Web application. When connecting to a Web site that has been extended as a Microsoft Office SharePoint Server Web application, the BizTalk Server Windows SharePoint Services adapter provides the same level of functionality that is available when connecting to a WSS 3.0 Web site. For more information about functionality provided with the BizTalk Server Windows SharePoint Services adapter when connecting to a WSS 3.0 Web site, see Windows SharePoint Services 4.0 Support.

Using BizTalk Server with Microsoft SharePoint Server 2010

The BizTalk Server Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web service can be installed and configured on a Web site that has been extended as a Microsoft SharePoint Foundation 2010 Web application. The BizTalk Server Windows SharePoint Services Adapter can also connect to a Web site that has been extended as a SharePoint Foundation 2010 Web application. When connecting to a Web site that has been extended as a SharePoint Foundation Web application, the BizTalk Server Windows SharePoint Services adapter provides the same level of functionality that is available when connecting to a SharePoint Foundation 2010 Web site.

Upgrading Windows SharePoint Services from 3.0 SP2 to SharePoint Foundation 2010

To upgrade Windows SharePoint Services on a computer that has the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Service component installed, follow these steps:

  1. Run the BizTalk Server 2010 configuration tool and unconfigure the SharePoint Adapter component.

  2. Run the BizTalk Server 2010 installation wizard and uninstall the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Service component (available under Additional Software in the installation wizard).

  3. Upgrade Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP2 to SharePoint Foundation 2010. SharePoint Foundation 2010 can be downloaded from http://go.microsoft.com/fwlink/?LinkId=190236.

    noteNote
If you uninstall Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 SP2 prior to installing SharePoint Foundation 2010, ensure that you also uninstall the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Language Pack if it is installed. If you do not uninstall the Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 Language Pack in this particular scenario, it will prevent you from installing the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Service component.

  4. Upgrade Windows SharePoint Services 3.0 to Microsoft SharePoint Services 2010 (optional).

  5. Configure SharePoint Foundation 2010 and extend a Web site.

  6. If you are upgrading BizTalk Server 2010 from an earlier build, run the BizTalk Server 2010 installation wizard from the later build to upgrade BizTalk Server 2010 at this time.

  7. Run the BizTalk Server 2010 installation wizard and install the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Service component.

  8. Run the BizTalk Server 2010 configuration tool and configure the SharePoint Adapter component. If you have installed Windows SharePoint Services in side-by-side mode then make sure that you select the Web site that has been extended with SharePoint Foundation 2010 when selecting the Windows SharePoint Services Adapter Web Site option.
