Removable Storage Manager

[Removable Storage Manager is no longer available as of Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2.]

Removable Storage Manager (RSM) facilitates communication among applications, robotic changers, and media libraries. It enables multiple applications to share local robotic media libraries and tape or disk drives, and manage removable media within a single-server system. A group of libraries, drives, and media that are managed by RSM is called an RSM system. RSM can help you create an application that makes effective use of the media resources in an RSM system.

The Microsoft Windows Software Development Kit (SDK) contains information about RSM that is tailored for developers creating RSM client applications. There is additional information in the Windows Resource Kit about administrative aspects of RSM. To understand how to utilize RSM within your application and design a good user experience, please refer to the Resource Kit.

Windows 7 Backup is terrible
I purchased windows 7 for my computer, and it does not allow me to back up to tape. In fact, the entire enterface is attrocious. Currently MS does not allow us to install the old windows backup on windows 7, Microsoft should have to pay me for having to purchase a 3rd party backup software to accomidate this
Reasonable Expectations
I have echo Rick Dee request.

I read thru the new forum started by Diane Olsen, and I could not find a working solution.

IMHO, a solution is absolutely required for this very simple, basic, and quite reasonable request. Upgrading to Win 7 can simply not require one to abandon years of backups made by Microsoft's NtBackup. It can't.

NtBackupRestore_x86.msi will not install in Windows 7 with a message that this requires Removable Storage Management. Since RSM is not included in Windows 7 how does on access old Backups from Windows XP?

Will the NtBackupRestore program be update to be compatible with Windows 7?
