Topic Status: Some information in this topic is pre-release and subject to change in future releases. Pre-release information describes new features or changes to existing features in Microsoft SQL Server 2014.
Windows Vista is not a supported operating system for SQL Server 2014. Service Pack 1 remains as the minimum requirement for Windows 7 and Windows Server 2008 R2 operating systems. For more information on operating system requirements, see Hardware and Software Requirements for Installing SQL Server 2014.
Installation of SQL Server 2014 Express will prompt you to specify the directory to save the extracted package. If no location is entered, SQL Server 2014 will default to the computer's system drive. The extracted files will remain after SQL Server 2014 Express installation is complete.
In SQL Server 2014, SysPrep is supported for all installations of SQL Server. SysPrep now supports failover cluster installations. For more information, see Considerations for Installing SQL Server Using SysPrep and Install SQL Server 2014 Using SysPrep.
