Unable to Find NTOSKRNL.EXE (Windows Embedded Standard 2009)

Learn what to do when you receive this error message.

  1. Be sure that you copied Boot.ini, Ntdetect.com, and Ntldr from your run-time image to the root directory of your target system's boot drive, and that you overwrote prior versions of these files.

  2. Be sure that you added a kernel to your configuration. Examples of kernel components include Ntoskrnl.exe, Ntkrnlmp.exe, and Ntkrnlpa.exe.

This error message usually indicates that your system does not include a kernel, or that the boot drive contains one or more driver versions that are not the correct version for your run-time image.
