Enabling a Keyboard

Windows Mobile 6.5
4/8/2010

To enable all of the keyboard–related features, the driver needs to create the following registry entry:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\SOFTWARE\Microsoft\Shell\HasKeyboard: {0=false,1=true}

1 indicates the device has a hardware keyboard installed. For modular keyboards, the driver is responsible for resetting this registry to zero anytime it is unplugged or disabled.

For information about keyboard drivers development, see Keyboard Driver Development Concepts.
