Welcome to the latest release of the Bing Maps AJAX Control. This is an overview of the new features in this release. For a detailed list of API changes, see the Version Changelist topic.
This release of the map control includes the following new features:
- Introduction of the Bing Maps Account Center and the Bing Maps Key. The Bing Maps Key provides an easy-to-use mechanism for tracking Bing Maps AJAX Control transactions. Using the Bing Maps Account Center to get a Bing Maps Key is described in the Register Your Bing Maps AJAX Control Application topic. Set your key using the VEMap.SetCredentials Method.
- Embedded maps. The embedded maps feature allows you to insert a map into your Web page without needing to write any JavaScript. See the Displaying an Embedded Map topic.
- Improved performance. The Bing Maps team continues work to improve the overall performance of the map control. For more information see the Bing Map Control Performance topic.
