Legacy Game Support

For a legacy game (one written for a system prior to Window Vista), Windows uses a game ID to access game-developer information, such as box-art and ratings, for display in Games Explorer.

However, Games Explorer supports downloading developer-provided data using a game-definition file (GDF). To do so, include a game ID in the GameDefinition element in the GDF file. Then call IGameExplorer::AddGame with the install path. Be sure that bstrGameInstallDirectory matches the folder of the legacy database; otherwise, the legacy game-system will assume the game is installed multiple times, and will not override the legacy entry. If you need help identifying the legacy database, contact the Microsoft Windows Gaming and Graphics Developer Relations Group.
