In the PDL Schema file, the ElementType 'name' is not defined.

This project is governed by development policies defined in a policy file. The PDLSchema.xml file defines the terms used in policy files. In the PDLSchema.xml file, the opening tag of each ElementType definition must include a name attribute. There is no ElementType 'name' defined in the PDLSchema.xml file. This means that one of the following occurred:

  • You attempted to use a term that cannot be used in policy files.

  • The term 'name' is misspelled or incorrect.

  • The PDLSchema.xml file has been edited.

To solve this problem

  1. Close the project.

  2. If the term 'name' is not permitted in policy files:

    1. Open the policy file in a text editor.

    2. Find the term 'name' and remove it.

    3. Save and close the policy file.

  3. If the term 'name' is misspelled or incorrect:

    1. Open the policy file in a text editor.

    2. Find the term 'name' and replace it with the intended term.

    3. Save and close the policy file.

  4. If the PDLSchema.xml file has been edited:

    1. Locate the default PDLSchema.xml file on your installation CD.

    2. Replace your edited PDLSchema.xml file with the default version.

  5. Reopen the project.
