Windows Live Writer Application API

Windows Live Writer includes an application API that external applications can use to launch Writer in order to create new posts, to open existing posts, and to support "Blog This" operations for various content types including links, snippets, images, and feed items.

The Writer Application API is available using a COM interface (WindowsLiveWriterApplication COM Class) defined in the type library "WindowsLiveWriter.Application.tlb". This Typelib resides in the root directory of the Windows Live Writer installation directory.
